ABOUT

About this spot

Located in Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture, the Otsuka Museum of Art is a one-of-a-kind "ceramic-board museum" that reproduces the world's great paintings on ceramic panels. The highlight is the Sistine Hall, a full-scale recreation of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. The environmental exhibit, which recreates the entire space, is breathtaking in its power and beauty. The works on display are masterpieces that everyone has seen at least once, including Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper, Monet's Water Lilies, and Van Gogh's Sunflowers. The biggest appeal is being able to view them at the same size as the originals and from close range. Because they are ceramic boards, photography is allowed, so you can capture travel memories with the great paintings. The viewing route inside the museum is about 4 km long and very extensive, so allow plenty of time. The cafes and restaurants also offer creative menus inspired by the artworks. Whether you want to immerse yourself quietly in art alone or enjoy a lively visit with family and friends, this is a sightseeing spot Tokushima can be proud of before the world.
