ABOUT
About this spot
Rising in the heart of Tokushima City, Mt. Bizan is the city's landmark, named for the way it looks like an eyebrow ("mayu") from every direction. To reach the summit, take the ropeway for about 6 minutes from the 5th floor of Awa Odori Kaikan at the foot of the mountain. As you enjoy a gently swaying aerial stroll, the panorama of Tokushima City gradually unfolds and is truly spectacular. On clear days, you can see as far as the Kii Channel and Awaji Island. We especially recommend visiting from dusk into the evening. The twinkling lights of Tokushima City make for a night view said to be among the most beautiful in Shikoku, and it is a very popular date spot. Cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in fall show how nature changes its face throughout the year. The summit has been developed as Bizan Park, with the LED kaleidoscope monument "Mayu Kyo," an observation rest area, a play area, and walking trails, making it ideal for a family picnic, some solo time to recharge, or a drive with friends. It is a classic sightseeing spot to visit first when in Tokushima.
