ABOUT
About this spot
The highlight of any visit to Tokushima is Awa Odori, a dance festival with a history of more than 400 years. At the Awa Odori Kaikan, you can feel its energy all year round, not just during the summer festival season. The main attractions are the daytime performances by the resident ren (dance troupe) and the evening performances featuring famous ren that change daily. Beyond watching gorgeous dances up close by dancers in splendid costumes, there is a participation segment at the end where audience members dance on stage too, guaranteed to bring smiles to everyone from adults to children. On the 3rd floor, the Awa Odori Museum displays valuable materials and costumes that trace the evolution of Awa Odori, letting you enjoy the culture more deeply by learning its history. On the 5th floor is the base station of the ropeway to the summit of Mt. Bizan (290 m), giving easy access to a scenic viewpoint over all of Tokushima City. The 1st floor has the "Aruyo Tokushima" souvenir shop, making this a spot packed with Tokushima's charms, perfect for finding gifts.
