ABOUT
About this spot
This museum lets you fully enjoy the appeal of "masunosushi" (pressed trout sushi), a representative local dish of Toyama. Inside, the history of masunosushi, which continues from the Edo period, is introduced with precious materials. From the glass-walled factory tour corridor, you can watch up close as craftsmen deftly lay bamboo leaves and arrange vivid trout in the traditional technique, and their skill is so smooth that everyone from adults to children is captivated. Particularly popular is the "self-made experience," in which you make masunosushi with your own hands. Under the guidance of the craftsmen, you can create your own "travel souvenir," so it is very popular as an activity for family trips and groups of friends. At the attached restaurant you can enjoy Toyama's seasonal flavors, including freshly made masunosushi, and the shop offers a wide selection from standard to limited-edition products. It is a classic spot to be sure to stop by when sightseeing in Toyama.
