ABOUT

About this spot

The "Torokko Train" that runs through Toyama Prefecture's Kurobe Gorge is one of Japan's leading scenic railways, letting you feel the breath of nature directly. Originally built for the construction of power plants, it is now beloved by many as a sightseeing train. It travels slowly over the total length of 20.1 km from Unazuki Station to Keyakidaira Station, taking about 1 hour 20 minutes one way. In the windowless "ordinary cars," you can view the emerald green waters of the Kurobe River and steep sheer cliffs up close while feeling the refreshing breeze. In the autumn foliage season in particular, the mountains are vividly colored, and the beauty is overwhelming. Along the line there is much to see, including Kuronagi Station, where you can enjoy a foot bath, and Kanetsuri Station, with its remote-wilderness atmosphere. Around the terminus, Keyakidaira Station, there is also a riverside open-air bath, and combining a walk with a hot spring is recommended. Why not spend a special holiday, with family and friends or leisurely alone, soothed by the grand nature of Kurobe?
