ABOUT

About this spot

Oyama Shrine is a distinguished shrine that regards Mount Tateyama, a famous peak of the Northern Alps, as its object of worship. Its greatest feature is that it consists of three shrine buildings of differing character: the "Mine Honsha" standing at the 3,003 m summit, the "Chugu Kigan-den" on the mountainside, and the "Maedate Shadan" at the foot of the mountain. The "Mine Honsha," whose gates are opened only in summer, is a true sanctuary above the clouds. Serious climbing from Murodo is required, but the prayers received at the summit and the 360-degree view of the Northern Alps offer an emotion found nowhere else. Even if you are not confident in your stamina, you can enjoy the architectural beauty of historic Important Cultural Properties at the "Maedate Shadan" and "Chugu Kigan-den" at the foot of the mountain, while feeling the tranquil air surrounded by cedar trees. Known also as a power spot for success in competition and good fortune, it is worth visiting for any purpose, whether soul-searching alone, refreshing with someone special, or exploring history with family. Why not refresh body and mind in the sacred atmosphere woven by nature and history?
