ABOUT

About this spot

"Amaharashi Coast" in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture, is part of Noto Peninsula Quasi-National Park and one of Japan's finest scenic spots, selected among Japan's Top 100 Beaches. Its greatest charm is the majestic Tateyama mountain range seen across the sea. The sight of 3,000-meter peaks seemingly floating above the water is a rare and precious view not easily found elsewhere. Along the coast stands "Yoshitsune Rock," tied to the legend that Minamoto no Yoshitsune sheltered from the rain here while fleeing to Oshu, letting you feel the breath of history. The contrast between "Onna-iwa" standing at the water's edge and the mountains behind it offers photography enthusiasts a superb shutter opportunity. On clear winter days in particular, the snow-capped Tateyama range appears crisp and clear, and the fantastical "kearashi" sea smoke sometimes forms. In recent years, "Michi-no-Eki Amaharashi," with its stylish cafe and observation deck, has opened, making it comfortable to enjoy the view. Whether for a family drive, a trip with friends, or a quiet moment gazing at the sea alone, it is a special place that soothes visitors of every generation.
