ABOUT
About this spot
Unazuki Onsen is an atmospheric hot spring town representing Toyama Prefecture, embraced by the rugged nature of Kurobe Gorge. It has been loved by many poets and men of letters since the springs were opened in 1923. Its greatest feature is the pure water, colorless and transparent, said to have "one of the highest clarities in Japan." A mildly alkaline simple spring, it is also known nationwide as "skin-beautifying waters" that are gentle on the skin. The changing expressions of the seasons are another charm: fresh greenery in spring, cool breezes in summer, vivid autumn leaves coloring the mountains in fall, and snowy landscapes wrapped in silence in winter, each visit bringing a different kind of wonder. In the autumn foliage season especially, the sheer cliff scenery viewed from the trolley train of the adjacent Kurobe Gorge Railway is breathtaking. The hot spring town is dotted with free foot baths, gourmet spots using local spring water, and places to enjoy craft beer, so strolling around is part of the fun. It is ideal for family trips, for lively outings with friends, or for quiet solo getaways. Why not spend a luxurious time soothing the fatigue of daily life in the famous waters nurtured by the great nature of Kurobe?
