ABOUT
About this spot
Kaiwomaru Park in Imizu City, Toyama Prefecture, is a beautiful bayside park that preserves and displays the sailing ship Kaiwomaru, once praised as the "Lady of the Sea," as it appeared in service. The main highlight is the elegant sight of Kaiwomaru with its pure white sails spread. At the "Total Sail Display" held several times a year, all 29 sails are unfurled, an overwhelming and beautiful sight. The ship is open to the public, and you can feel the traces of her voyages in places such as the helm room and the trainees' quarters. From the park, you can enjoy panoramic views of the huge Shinminato Bridge spanning Toyama Bay and, on clear days, the 3,000-meter-class Tateyama mountain range. At night, the ship and bridge are beautifully lit up, creating a romantic atmosphere, and the park is certified as a "Sacred Place for Lovers." With a market offering fresh seafood nearby, it is also ideal for weekend family trips, dates, and solo trips with a camera.
