ABOUT
About this spot
Ryujin Suspension Bridge, one of Ibaraki Prefecture's signature attractions, is a magnificent pedestrian-only suspension bridge spanning Ryujin Dam, with a total length of 446 meters (center span of 375 meters). From the bridge you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the grand natural scenery of Ryujin Gorge. In the autumn foliage season in particular, the surrounding mountains blaze in red and yellow, creating a breathtaking sight. Several "peep windows" with reinforced-glass floors are set into the bridge, offering a thrilling chance to look straight down at the lake surface 100 meters below. The bridge is also known as the site of Japan's highest bungee jump at 100 meters, and you can watch brave jumpers take the plunge up close. Walking trails and a local products center nearby make it a perfect weekend refresh with family or friends. From fresh greenery to autumn colors to winter snowscapes, it shows a different face with every visit, so be sure to stop by one of Ibaraki's finest photo spots.
