ABOUT
About this spot
The JAXA Tsukuba Space Center in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture, is the heart of Japan's space development. At the entrance to the vast grounds, a life-size model of the 50-meter-long, domestically produced H-II rocket welcomes visitors. In the main exhibition hall "Space Dome," you can see backup units of satellites that have actually gone to space and a life-size model of Japan's experiment module "Kibo" on the International Space Station (ISS). You can even step inside and experience the astronauts' living environment and cutting-edge technology firsthand. For those who want to go deeper, we recommend the reservation-only guided tour (paid). With a guide, you visit the operations control room and astronaut training facilities that are normally off limits, and feel the excitement of space development. "Space food" souvenirs from the museum shop are also popular. It is a spot guaranteed to spark curiosity about space in both children and adults.
