ABOUT

About this spot

Museum Park Ibaraki Nature Museum in Bando City, Ibaraki Prefecture, is a hands-on museum that presents everything from the birth of the Earth and the evolution of life to today's natural environment on a grand scale. The first thing that catches your eye as you enter is the skeleton specimen of Nuoerosaurus, one of the largest in the world. Its overwhelming presence instantly draws both adults and children into the world of science. In the popular dinosaur exhibit corner, a realistically moving Tyrannosaurus parent and child based on the latest research appear, giving you the feeling of having traveled back in time. Beyond the indoor exhibits, the vast outdoor facilities, equivalent to about 3.5 Tokyo Domes, are also a major attraction. There are observation paths adjoining Sugo Swamp, a plaza for fossil-digging play, and walking trails with seasonal plants, perfect for a picnic with a packed lunch. It is great for a weekend family outing, as well as for adult dates and solo trips to satisfy intellectual curiosity. With plentiful indoor facilities, you can stay active all day even on rainy days.
