ABOUT
About this spot
Hitachi Seaside Park in Hitachinaka City, Ibaraki Prefecture, is one of Japan's leading tourist spots, with spectacular views of flowers that blend into the blue of the sea and sky. Most famous are the 4.5 million nemophila that reach their peak from mid-April to early May. The sight of the hill entirely dyed sky blue is widely known as a "must-see once in a lifetime" view. In autumn, round, cute kochia color the hill bright red, creating a passionate landscape in contrast to spring. The park is very large at about 215 hectares and offers plenty of activities, including the amusement area "Pleasure Garden" with a Ferris wheel and roller coaster, a cycling course where you can ride in the sea breeze, and a barbecue area. From family picnics to dates, solo photography, and active trips with friends, it is a park where a wide range of generations from teens to sixties can enjoy a full day in their own way. Seasonal events and local cuisine are also not to be missed.
