ABOUT

About this spot

Mt. Tsukuba, the emblematic peak of Ibaraki Prefecture, is relatively low at 877 m, but its greatest appeal is the overwhelming panoramic view of the entire Kanto Plain. Made up of two peaks, Mt. Nantai and Mt. Nyotai, it has long been worshipped as a mountain where gods dwell. In addition to full-fledged climbing, the cable car and ropeway let even families with small children and those who are not confident in their stamina easily reach the area near the summit. "Tsukubasan Shrine" on the mountainside is famous as a power spot for matchmaking and marital harmony, and combining a visit with a stroll is recommended. The autumn foliage season is especially beautiful, and from the ropeway, which runs at night for a limited period, you can enjoy dreamy night views certified as a "Japan Night View Heritage." With easy access from central Tokyo, it is a perfect spot for a weekend change of pace or an active holiday with family and friends. Why not refresh body and mind while feeling the energy of nature?
