ABOUT
About this spot
Hirizo Beach in Minamiizu, Shizuoka Prefecture, is a scenic spot of unspoiled nature surrounded by cliffs at the southernmost tip of the Izu Peninsula. It cannot be reached by land; a ferry ride of only about 5 minutes from Nakagi Port brings you to a view that looks like an overseas resort. Its defining feature is the astonishing clarity of the water, which lets you see all the way to the seabed. Thanks to the Kuroshio Current, you can observe colorful tropical fish and coral reefs up close, making it a true mecca for snorkeling enthusiasts. It is open only in summer (normally early July to late September), and that rarity is part of its charm. Whether you enjoy the sea actively with friends, share a mystical blue world with someone special, or quietly soak in the beauty of nature on your own, it offers each visitor an unforgettable experience. Boats run as needed during the season, but because the spot is extremely popular, we recommend arriving early, especially on weekends. Why not go and experience the finest "blue" Izu has to offer?
