ABOUT
About this spot
If you visit Miyako Island in Okinawa, Sunayama Beach is an absolute must. As the name suggests, you climb a dune of powder-snow-like white sand from the parking lot, and the emerald-green sea that appears beyond is breathtakingly beautiful. The symbol of the beach is the natural rock arch, eroded by waves over a long time. The blue sea seen through this arch and the sunset when the sky turns golden at dusk are known as some of Miyako Island's best photo spots. The contrast of white sand, blue sea, and green vegetation looks like a painting. It is a superb location for relaxing at the water's edge and taking commemorative photos, whether traveling with friends or as a couple, or quietly gazing at the view alone. Note that the sand on the way to the beach is deep and hard to walk in, so comfortable shoes are recommended. Enjoy a healing time experiencing art made by nature with all five senses.
