ABOUT
About this spot
Cape Maeda, on the west coast of Okinawa's main island, is one of the prefecture's leading scenic spots, visited by many divers and tourists throughout the year. Its biggest attraction is the "Blue Cave," where sunlight streams in and the sea surface shines a miraculous blue. It is overwhelmingly popular as a snorkeling and diving spot, where you can see colorful tropical fish and coral reefs up close. From the observation deck at the tip of the cape, you can enjoy the contrast between the dynamic sheer cliffs overlooking the East China Sea and the emerald green water, and a stroll along the promenade is also recommended. The management building has well-equipped facilities including showers, changing rooms, lockers, and a shop, so you can rest assured when getting ready after your activities. It is a spot where people of all kinds can enjoy Okinawa's nature, whether on an active vacation with friends, making memories as a couple, or playing in the sea with family. Swimming may be restricted depending on sea conditions, so we recommend checking the official website in advance before you visit.
