ABOUT
About this spot
Often called the highlight of any trip to Miyakojima, Irabu Ohashi Bridge opened in 2015 and is the longest bridge in Japan that can be crossed free of charge. Its total length of 3,540 meters is known through a Japanese wordplay: "san-go-no-shima," meaning 3-5-0-4. Driving across it, over endless emerald-green water of outstanding clarity, is a truly exhilarating experience. From the bridge, a panoramic view opens up over the surrounding islands and beautiful coral reefs. Beyond the drive itself, the white silhouette of the bridge blending into Miyakojima's blue sea and sky makes it hugely popular as a photo spot that is sure to shine on social media. Whether you are traveling with family, friends, or on your own, this is a landmark you should not miss when visiting Miyakojima. The vivid blue of the daytime is wonderful, and the scene at magic hour at dusk is equally enchanting, letting you fully enjoy the sea's expression as it changes moment by moment depending on when you visit.
