ABOUT
About this spot
This is a rare hands-on museum nationwide themed on Tottori Prefecture's specialty, the "Nijisseiki pear." The first thing that catches your eye when you step inside is the giant parent Nijisseiki pear tree with a 20-meter branch spread. The sight, conveying overwhelming vitality, makes a great photo spot. The top attraction is the "pear tasting comparison" corner, available year-round. You can sample three different varieties of pears for free and learn by actually tasting the differences in sweetness, texture, and acidity. The exhibit area explains in detail the history of pear cultivation and pears of the world, with content that tickles the intellectual curiosity even of adults. There is also a kids' space "Fushigi Garden" with pear-themed play equipment, and a fruit parlor where you can enjoy pear soft-serve ice cream. Not only families but also girls' trips and solo travelers can enjoy it, making it a classic Tottori sightseeing spot. As it is an indoor facility, it is also perfect for sightseeing on rainy days.
