ABOUT
About this spot
Yonago Castle Ruins in Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture, are the remains of a grand castle once praised as the "finest castle in San'in." No buildings remain today, but magnificent stone walls conveying its former grandeur have been preserved as they were, creating a sight that overwhelms even non-history fans. The biggest attraction is the superb view from the site of the main enclosure at the roughly 90-meter summit. With a 360-degree view, you can see the majestic Sea of Japan to the north, Mt. Daisen, the famous peak called "Hoki Fuji," to the east, and Yonago's city and Nakaumi lagoon at your feet. The view during the season when the "Diamond Daisen" can be seen, and the panorama at dusk, are truly superb and very popular photo spots. The climbing path is well maintained, and being within walking distance of Yonago Station is another plus. After a 15 to 20-minute climb up the stone steps while enjoying the walk, you will feel the refreshing sense of accomplishment at the top. It is ideal for a solo refresh or a weekend outing with family or friends. Admission is also free, making it a classic must-see in Yonago sightseeing where you can feel the seasonal nature and the breath of history.
