ABOUT
About this spot
Amedaki, with a drop of 40 meters, is a renowned waterfall where clear water flowing from Mt. Ogi plunges dramatically over a basalt cliff. True to its name ("rain falls"), fine spray drifts like rain around the base of the falls, enveloping you in cool air and negative ions that bring a chill even in summer. Known since ancient times as a sacred site where mountain ascetics came to train, it still draws many visitors as a power spot. Around it are scattered 48 waterfalls large and small (the Amedaki Forty-Eight Falls), including Nunobiki Falls and Meoto Falls, and along well-kept walking paths you can tour the falls while strolling through lush primeval forest. We especially recommend the autumn foliage season, when the surroundings are vividly colored, and early summer, when the fresh greenery is dazzling. In winter the falls sometimes freeze, so you can enjoy the dynamic beauty of nature in every season. It is a hidden gem of Tottori for anyone wanting to refresh on the weekend or hoping to capture stunning scenery with a camera.
