ABOUT
About this spot
Misasa Onsen, located in central Tottori Prefecture, is a famous hot spring with a history of more than 850 years. Its greatest feature is one of the world's highest radium contents. Said to be good for inhaling, drinking, and soaking, it is known as a modern-day toji (hot spring therapy) site where the "hormesis effect," which stimulates metabolism and boosts the body's immunity, can be expected. On the Mitoku River flowing through the center of the hot spring town stands the symbolic "Kawara-buro" (riverside bath), where you can bathe with a sense of openness while listening to the murmur of the river. The atmospheric stone-paved streets are lined with old-fashioned shooting galleries and candy shops, giving off a nostalgic, retro Showa atmosphere. It is recommended for all kinds of visitors, from those who want to refresh quietly alone and those who want to stroll in yukata with friends, to families who want to enjoy good hot spring water at leisure. Nearby is Mt. Mitoku, home to the National Treasure Nageiredo, so you can enjoy both history and nature in this luxurious hot spring area.
