Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort, a representative resort of Nagano Prefecture, is a big ski area among Japan's largest, with a vertical drop of 1,085 m. With some of the heaviest snowfall in Japan, it offers 44 courses satisfying to everyone from beginners to experts. Especially recommended is the "Yamabiko Slope" near the summit, where you can enjoy the finest powder snow amid open panoramic views. Another big attraction of this ski resort is the après-ski. At the foot of the mountain lies the "Nozawa Onsen" hot spring town, which retains the charm of old Japan, where you can visit 13 public baths (soto-yu) free of charge. Warming up in the famous waters and savoring cuisine made with local ingredients is a moment of pure bliss. It is ideal for lively trips with friends, for those who want to enjoy snow and hot springs on their own, and, with its well-equipped kids' park, for family trips.
