ABOUT
About this spot
Hakuba Happo-one Ski Resort, in Hakuba Village, Nagano Prefecture, is one of Japan's largest winter resorts, a dream destination for skiers and snowboarders around the world. It was the venue for the alpine events at the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics, and its high-quality slopes and superb powder snow remain as good as ever. Its biggest appeal is the dynamic skiing experience with a vertical drop of over 1,000 m. A wide variety of courses suits everyone from beginners to experts, and the panoramic view of the Northern Alps and the Hakuba Sanzan from near the summit is breathtakingly beautiful. On clear days, you can enjoy the luxury of skiing down with pure white snowy mountains behind you. The green season from summer to autumn is popular too. The trek to "Happo Pond," reached by connecting a gondola and lifts, is known as a spectacular spot where the pond mirrors the mountains like glass. Whether it is playing in the snow with family, serious skiing with friends, or a solo scenic walk, visitors of every generation will find moving experiences. The base also has plenty of hot springs, perfect for refreshing after exercise.
