ABOUT
About this spot
Takahata Winery is a leading winery of the Tohoku region, located in Takahata, Yamagata Prefecture, known as the "Land of Mahoroba." In this area, famed as a vast grape-growing region, the winery crafts wines that can hold their own on the world stage. Inside the facility you can see part of the production process, the storage tank yard and the underground cellar, and learn how the wine is made. In the shop, you can taste four to five wines, from sweet to dry, free of charge, and being able to compare them at leisure to find the bottle you like best is a luxury only a winery can offer. At the adjoining Gozzonale Takahata, you can also enjoy light meals and glasses of wine for a fee. The shop is also well stocked with limited-edition wines available only here, local cheeses, snacks, and sweets such as wine soft serve ice cream, so there is plenty to enjoy for shoppers too. On weekends, spend a relaxing time with family or friends in the open garden, or time your visit to seasonal events such as the spring bar festival and the autumn harvest festival. From beginners to enthusiasts, it is a social space for adults that a wide range of visitors can enjoy.
