ABOUT
About this spot
The Seto Inland Sea Shimanami Kaido is an expressway about 60 km long connecting Imabari City in Ehime Prefecture with Onomichi City in Hiroshima Prefecture. Its greatest feature is that every bridge has a bicycle and pedestrian path alongside. World-famous as a "cyclists' mecca," it lets everyone from beginners to experts enjoy with all five senses the island-dotted scenery woven from clear blue sea and green islands. Along the way are attractive spots such as the panoramic view from Kirosan Observation Park, Oyamazumi Shrine, Japan's chief guardian shrine, and rapid-current tidal boat tours where you can experience the tidal currents. Rental bicycles are plentiful, and "one-way cycling," where you return your bike on an island along the way and continue by bus or boat, is popular. It is a perfect spot for a weekend when you want to forget everyday life and refresh. Whether a solo long ride, a cafe-hopping trip with friends or a family drive, it is sure to make special memories in any style. Why not set off on a trip to experience the Seto Inland Sea's mild climate and the warmth of the island people?
