ABOUT

About this spot

Haruna Shrine, a sacred place representing Gunma Prefecture, has long been worshipped as an "all-purpose power spot" said to grant any wish. With a history of more than 1,400 years, magnificent buildings designated national Important Cultural Properties are scattered throughout the grounds. The greatest highlight is the main hall, built to merge with the giant strange rock "Misugata-iwa." That sight, where natural beauty and architecture fuse, is full of mystical energy that overwhelms visitors. An approach of about 700 m continues from the entrance Zuishinmon gate to the main hall, and you can enjoy a stroll of about 15 minutes one way while taking in dynamic scenery such as the murmuring of a clear stream, rows of centuries-old cedars, and sheer cliffs. Along the way there are also pleasures like the "Goshinsui Kaiun Omikuji," a fortune slip on which letters appear when dipped in water, so couples, families, and solo travelers can all spend a fulfilling time. The seasons are also richly expressive, and the beauty in the autumn foliage season is especially exceptional. Within 30 minutes by car of Ikaho Onsen, it is also recommended for those who want to refresh between sightseeing.
