ABOUT
About this spot
A leading hot spring resort in Gunma Prefecture, boasting the largest natural flow volume in Japan. The "Yubatake" in the center of the hot spring town is the symbol of Kusatsu, and the sight of about 4,000 liters of hot spring water gushing out every minute is spectacular. The drifting scent of sulfur stirs up hot spring atmosphere. Nearby are many attractive spots, such as "Netsunoyu," where you can experience the traditional "yumomi" (hot water stirring) that has continued since the Edo period, and the open-air "Nishi-no-Kawara Rotenburo." During the day we recommend strolling and snacking on onsen manju buns, and at night walking around the Yubatake, magically lit up. Walking the stone-paved streets in a yukata makes for a special moment that lets you forget daily life. From girls' trips with friends and dates with someone special to hot spring trips with family, it is a classic sightseeing spot loved by all kinds of people. With good access from central Tokyo, you can enjoy the famous waters to your heart's content on either a day trip or an overnight stay.
