Located in Shimonoseki's bay area "Arcaport," "Hai! Karatto Yokocho" is an amusement spot where you can play while feeling the sea breeze of the Kanmon Strait. Because admission is free, the biggest appeal is that you can easily drop in between sightseeing at the neighboring aquarium "Kaikyokan" and the Karato Market. The park has a wide variety of attractions, including a large Ferris wheel about 60 meters tall with sweeping views of the Kanmon Strait, a merry-go-round, and the "Gururi Mori Daiboken" card maze, which is very popular with children. At night in particular, the Ferris wheel's illuminations are beautiful, making it a very popular date spot with a romantic night view. It is an essential stop for Shimonoseki sightseeing, enjoyed at their own pace by a wide range of generations from 18 to 60, from weekend family outings to girls' trips visiting photo spots and after-work refreshers.
