ABOUT
About this spot
Tokiwa Park in Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, is a general-purpose park full of play and relaxation, spreading around the vast Lake Tokiwa. The park includes the "Tokiwa Zoo," where you can observe animals in a nearly wild state, the "Plant Museum for Traveling the World," which gathers rare plants from around the globe, and the "Tokiwa Amusement Park," which is very popular with children, so you won't get bored even playing all day. It is also the venue of the Contemporary Japanese Sculpture Exhibition (UBE Biennale) held every two years, and another big attraction is encountering art works all over the park. You can also enjoy beauty through the seasons, with 3,500 cherry trees in spring, irises in early summer, and splendid illuminations in winter. A leading classic spot in the prefecture, it charms visitors in every situation, whether a family picnic, active play with friends or a quiet solo trip along the lakeshore.
