ABOUT
About this spot
The TOTO Museum in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, is a cultural facility established by TOTO, a leading Japanese manufacturer of housing equipment, to commemorate its 100th anniversary. The building, with its futuristic white-based, beautifully curved form, is designed with the environment in mind and attracts attention from architecture fans. In the exhibition area, you can see a restored display of Japan's first domestically made sit-down flush toilet and learn in detail, through valuable actual materials, about the history of toilets and bathrooms as they evolved with the times. You can have an educational and interesting experience learning how the water-related products we use without thinking have changed Japanese lifestyle culture. The displays of special-specification products installed in the National Diet Building and first-class hotels are also impressive. Admission is free, and the spotless space is comfortable for solo travelers and families alike. The shop offers plenty of souvenirs you can only buy here, such as unique stationery and toilet paper with toilet motifs. It is a classic spot to drop by when sightseeing in Kitakyushu.
