ABOUT
About this spot
One of Japan's three great karst plateaus, "Hiraodai" is a scenic spot with the "Yogunbara" (flock-of-sheep plain), where limestone outcrops look like a flock of sheep scattered across the grassland. On this plateau at an elevation of 400-600 m, you can enjoy a grand panorama that changes with the seasons. Especially popular is the "Sembutsu Limestone Cave," designated a national natural monument, where you wade through cold underground water for an explorer's thrill. It stays pleasantly cool even in summer, making it ideal for creating memories with family and friends. At Hiraodai Nature Village (Solaland Hiraodai), you can also enjoy camping, grass sledding, and workshop experiences, so there is never a dull moment all day long. Hiking trails are well maintained, so from beginners to serious hikers, you can stroll at a pace that suits you. Why not feel the pleasant breeze and enjoy the natural beauty that Fukuoka is proud of with all five senses? It is also recommended for a weekend refresh or a solo trip with a camera in hand.
