ABOUT

About this spot

Miyajidake Shrine in Fukutsu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, is a venerable shrine known for deities of business prosperity and good fortune. The highlight of the grounds is without doubt the "largest shimenawa in Japan," measuring 2.6 meters in diameter, 11 meters in length and weighing 3 tons. Enshrined in the main hall, it is truly spectacular. The "Path of Light," which became famous through a TV commercial in recent years, is a must-see. Only twice a year, in February and October, the sun sets at the end of the approach that runs straight from the shrine to the sea, and the approach glows golden in a miraculous view. The shrine is bustling with worshippers at this time, and a dreamlike scene unfolds. Behind the main hall are shrines called the "Okunomiya Hassha," and visiting all of them in the "eight-shrine pilgrimage" is also popular. The spacious grounds, surrounded by abundant nature, are full of seasonal flowers and buildings that evoke history, making them ideal for a weekend stroll or a solo trip. It is a place filled with a special energy that refreshes both body and mind.
