ABOUT

About this spot

The Kaga Yuzen Kaikan is where you can fully experience Kaga Yuzen, Kanazawa's proud traditional craft. Inside, many kimono with delicate designs using the Kaga Gosai (the five colors of indigo, grass green, ocher, ancient purple, and crimson) are displayed, and you can see the artisans' outstanding skills up close. Particularly recommended is the "dyeing experience," where you can create your own original piece. Applying color to items such as handkerchiefs and tote bags using techniques unique to Kaga Yuzen is so engrossing that even adults lose themselves in it, and it is perfect for travel memories. A plan to rent an authentic Kaga Yuzen kimono and stroll around Kenroku-en and Kanazawa Castle Park is also very popular. The calm atmosphere inside is perfect for appreciating at leisure on a solo trip, and also for rediscovering Japanese beauty with family and friends. With its prime location right by Kenroku-en, be sure to include it in your Kanazawa sightseeing route.
