Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura, in Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture, takes you into the Edo period the moment you step inside. The vast grounds realistically recreate highways, post towns, merchant districts, and a ninja village. The highlight is without question the spectacular "Grand Ninja Theater." The ninjas' acrobatic movements and staging are so powerful that even adults cannot help but watch intently. There is also a wealth of Edo entertainment, including the glamorous "oiran procession" and the warmhearted kabuki playhouse. The "transformation" plans, in which you change into costumes such as samurai, ninja, or townswoman and walk through the town, are also very popular. If you stroll as an Edo resident yourself, you will find great photo spots everywhere. Authentic "Edo job experiences" are also recommended for children.
