ABOUT

About Aichi

Aichi Prefecture is located almost in the center of Japan and is a region where history and the modern day blend in perfect harmony. Historically, Nagoya Castle, associated with Tokugawa Ieyasu, and Atsuta Shrine, which enshrines one of the Three Sacred Treasures, are famous and convey the spirit of the Warring States period to this day. Inuyama Castle is known as a National Treasure with one of the oldest surviving keeps in Japan, and it continues to fascinate history fans. Rich nature is another attraction, and you can enjoy the scenery of each season, from the beautiful coastline of Mikawa Bay to Korankei, famed as a spot for autumn foliage. The food culture, popularly known as "Nagoya meshi," is hugely popular nationwide, and there is no shortage of cuisine found nowhere else, such as miso katsu with its rich miso sauce, the luxurious hitsumabushi, and miso-nikomi udon with its distinctive flavor. In recent years, sightseeing spots that fuse industry and entertainment have also grown, such as the opening of "Ghibli Park" and the manufacturing tradition exemplified by the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology. Combining urban convenience with rich tradition, Aichi is a travel destination where you will find something new on every visit.
