ABOUT

About Nagasaki

Nagasaki Prefecture flourished as a gateway for exchange with foreign countries from early times, and its distinctive "Wakaran culture," a blend of Japanese, Chinese, and Dutch cultures, remains alive. Glover Garden, Oura Church, and Dejima in Nagasaki City are symbols of it, and in 2018 the "Hidden Christian Sites in the Nagasaki Region" were inscribed as a World Cultural Heritage site. The natural beauty is exceptional as well, with the scenery of each season to be enjoyed, from the Kujukushima Islands in Sasebo City and the magnificent landscape of Unzen, one of Japan's first national parks, to the highly transparent sea of the Goto Islands. In particular, the 10-million-dollar night view from Mt. Inasa, counted as one of the "world's three new great night views," is spectacular. In gastronomy, in addition to multinational dishes such as Nagasaki champon, sara udon, and Turkish rice, fresh seafood and traditional Nagasaki castella are popular. Sasebo burgers are not to be missed either. From Peace Park, where you can feel the weight of history, to Huis Ten Bosch, one of Japan's largest theme parks, Nagasaki, with its concentration of diverse attractions, promises a special experience that will be deeply etched in the hearts of visitors.
