ABOUT
About this spot
Glover Garden, on the Minamiyamate hill overlooking Nagasaki Harbor, is a historic park where the residences of foreign merchants who came to Nagasaki after the opening of the country were relocated and restored. In the garden, Nationally designated Important Cultural Property Western-style houses are scattered around the former Glover House, Japan's oldest surviving wooden Western-style building, which is also a World Heritage site. The stone-paved paths and gardens with seasonal flowers offer photo spots wherever you look. There is also a legend that you will find happiness if you discover the hidden "heart stone" among the paving stones, making it popular with couples and friends. The panoramic view from the hill is spectacular, and you can enjoy wonderful scenery with Nagasaki Harbor and Mt. Inasa in the background. During the night-opening period the garden is also illuminated, wrapped in a romantic atmosphere different from daytime. It is a classic must-see for Nagasaki sightseeing where you can enjoy exotic Nagasaki history and soul-cleansing views at the same time.
