ABOUT
About this spot
Hanamiyama Park in Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture, is truly a "paradise" that condenses spring in Japan. Its greatest feature is that individual flower farmers open to the public, out of goodwill, the flowers they have devotedly raised over many years. At peak bloom from early to mid-April, not only Somei-yoshino and Higan cherries but also the vivid yellow of forsythia, the deep crimson of flowering quince, and the pink of winter aconite and flowering peach overlap, enveloping the whole mountain in painting-like colors. The walking paths are well maintained, and you can choose from 30-, 45-, and 60-minute courses to suit your stamina. Climb to the summit and enjoy the sea of flowers below against the "snow rabbit" of the distant Azuma mountains, making it a top photo spot for photography lovers. It is a place that soothes in any situation: a family picnic, a date with someone special, or a quiet solo trip admiring nature. Feeling the warm thoughts of local farmers, you can savor the breath of spring with all five senses in this park that is a treasure of Fukushima.
