Lake Inawashiro

ABOUT

About this spot

Lake Inawashiro, in central Fukushima Prefecture, has the alternate name "Tenkyoko" (Mirror of Heaven) for its clear surface and is a famous spot selected as one of the Hundred Views of Japan. Its contrast with the famous Mt. Bandai rising behind it is breathtakingly beautiful. In summer it bustles with people enjoying swimming, camping, and marine sports such as sailing; in autumn there are autumn leaves, and in winter many swans arrive from Siberia and you can see "spray ice," nature's art born of severe cold, so the lake shows a variety of faces throughout the year. Particularly recommended is a sightseeing cruise that leisurely circles the lake. The 360-degree panoramic view enjoyed in the refreshing breeze is exceptional, ideal for family trips and dates with someone special. Nearby are also sightseeing facilities such as the Hideyo Noguchi Memorial Museum and the Glass Museum of the World, so you can enjoy history, culture, and shopping too. Forget the bustle of the city and enjoy a journey of being soothed by open, great nature.
