ABOUT

About this spot

Dakigaeri Gorge lies in the middle reaches of the Tama River flowing through Senboku City, Akita Prefecture, and is a scenic spot called the "Yabakei of Tohoku" for its beauty. The name "Dakigaeri" derives from the past, when the path was so narrow that people passing each other had to embrace to get by. The main highlight is the mystical scenery woven from the beautiful emerald-green water, called "Dakigaeri Blue," and the surrounding sheer cliffs and primeval forest. The walking path is well maintained, with spots scattered along it that cleanse the heart just by walking, such as "Kaminoiwa Bridge," the oldest suspension bridge in Akita Prefecture, and the majestic "Mikaeri Falls." The autumn foliage season (mid-October to early November) is especially stunning, and the contrast of trees blazing in red and yellow against the blue clear stream is a surefire photo opportunity. The walking course is relatively flat and easy, taking only about 30 to 40 minutes one way, so it suits family strolls, dates, and solo refreshment. Why not spend a luxurious time feeling the energy of nature with your whole body?
