ABOUT
About this spot
Nyuto Onsenkyo, representing Akita Prefecture, is the collective name for hot spring inns with seven different sources, wrapped in the rich nature of Towada-Hachimantai National Park. Known as one of Japan's leading hidden hot springs, each inn has its own source, so the water quality, effects, and even the color of the water vary widely. Its greatest appeal is the chance to bathe around a variety of characterful baths, including "Tsuru no Yu," with the longest history and rows of thatched-roof nagaya, "Okama Onsen," like a retro wooden schoolhouse, and "Kuroyu Onsen," brimming with a hidden-hot-spring feel. The seasonal scenery is also wonderful: fresh greenery in spring, refreshing breezes in summer, blazing autumn leaves in autumn, and snow-viewing baths wrapped in deep snow in winter create blissful moments that let you forget everyday bustle. Using the "Yumeguri-cho" (hot spring pass), sold only to overnight guests, you can also visit each inn by dedicated bus. It is ideal for a solo trip to quietly face yourself, a girls' trip talking with a dear friend, or a relaxed weekend trip with family. While soaking in the milky-white water, fully savor the "luxury of doing nothing" deep in the mountains of Akita.
