ABOUT
About this spot
Though located in the center of Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Jingu envelops you in a vast sacred forest the moment you step inside. Enshrining Emperor Jimmu, the first emperor, and his parents, this dignified shrine has long been affectionately known as "Jimmu-sama." The highlight is the main hall, built in the nagare-zukuri style from "Sano cedar" grown in Miyazaki Prefecture. Simple yet powerfully beautiful, it leaves a deep impression on all who see it. The grounds also hold the "Daihakufuji" (great white wisteria), a National Natural Monument that blooms magnificently in spring. It is a perfect place for a quiet solo stroll on a weekend morning to calm the mind, or a leisurely walk with friends and family while encountering history. In autumn, the Miyazaki Jingu Grand Festival (Jimmu-sama) takes place, featuring a procession in splendid costumes. It is recommended for everyone who wants to forget the bustle of the city and feel the breath of rich nature and history.
