ABOUT
About this spot
Cape Toi juts out at the southernmost tip of the Nichinan Coast and is a rare spot in Japan where wild horses live. Here you can meet the "Misaki horses," which have been protected in a wild state for over 300 years since the Edo period. Watching mothers and foals graze peacefully side by side across the green grasslands up close, you will be moved by the strength of life itself. The white Cape Toi Lighthouse standing at the tip of the cape is a lighthouse open for climbing, and the panoramic view from the top is spectacular, with such a sweeping sense of openness that the horizon appears curved. It is also a perfect driving destination, and the sight of horses standing against the sea makes for a superb photo opportunity. For those who want to spend relaxed time in nature or be moved by an encounter with wild animals, this is a scenic destination representing Miyazaki that is well worth a visit.
