ABOUT

About this spot

Takaya Shrine in Kanonji City, Kagawa Prefecture, is a scenic power spot that suddenly came into the spotlight on social media as the "Torii in the Sky." The main shrine sits on the summit of Mt. Inazumi, and beyond the torii gate you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the calm Seto Inland Sea and the Kanonji cityscape. There are two ways to reach the summit. The "walking route (about 50 minutes)" climbs steep stone steps (over 270 steps) and a mountain path from the lower shrine at the foot, with an exceptional sense of accomplishment and view at the end. The other is a route by car to near the summit, but private car restrictions are now in force mainly on weekends and holidays, so using the shuttle bus is common. The main shrine is said to bring blessings of financial luck, business prosperity, and traffic safety. In recent years it has attracted a wide range of generations, from young people seeking photogenic pictures to seniors visiting historic shrines. When traveling in Shikoku, we hope you visit on a clear day to this moving spot, one of Kagawa's finest.
