ABOUT

About this spot

At the southeastern tip of Shodoshima, set against the calm Seto Inland Sea, the Twenty-Four Eyes Movie Village is a nostalgic spot where you feel as if you have time-traveled to the early Showa era the moment you step in. The wooden schoolhouse and private houses used in the filming of the classic film "Twenty-Four Eyes" are preserved as they were, and the warm scenery of that time still lives on. The main highlight is the "Misaki no Bunkyojo" (Cape Branch School) standing facing the sea. Inside the classroom, small desks and chairs and textbooks of the time are displayed, letting you spend a quiet time gazing at the blue sea outside the window. The village also has a variety of facilities, including a dining hall where you can enjoy a nostalgic "school lunch set," a gallery introducing the golden age of Japanese cinema, and a book cafe with wall-to-wall art. Rent a retro kimono and stroll the village, and every angle is a photo spot. Whether touching history with family, taking Instagram-worthy photos with friends, or quietly soaking in the sound of waves and Showa atmosphere alone, adults and children can spend a heart-healing time away from daily life.
