ABOUT
About this spot
Historical Park Esashi Fujiwara no Sato in Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture is a vast historical theme park where you can enjoy the history and culture of the Oshu Fujiwara clan of the Heian period with all five senses. The approximately 20-hectare grounds include the "Kyara Goshyo," the only reproduction in Japan of a Heian-period aristocratic residence in the "shinden-zukuri" style, and a finely restored government office of that era. Because of this overwhelming realism, the park has been used as a filming location for many anime, films, and NHK historical dramas, and is loved by fans of those works as a "sacred site." Inside the park there are plenty of activities that let you feel the breath of history, such as trying on Heian aristocratic costumes and trying on bows, arrows, and armor, so both adults and children can enjoy it without getting bored. There is also a modern playful area with trick art, and plenty of photogenic spots. It is ideal not only for a weekend family trip, but also for a stroll with history-loving friends or for immersing yourself in the atmosphere of that era alone. Spend a special time thinking back on the golden culture of a thousand years ago, together with the nature of each season.
