ABOUT

About this spot

Ibusuki Onsen, at the southern tip of the Satsuma Peninsula in Kagoshima Prefecture, is a popular hot spring resort full of southern charm. The main attraction is the "sand bath hot spring," which uses the heat of hot springs welling up on the shore. Wearing a yukata and buried in the warm sand, you will break into a sweat all over in about 10 to 15 minutes, with outstanding detox effects that refresh both body and mind. Lying there while feeling the sound of the waves up close is a luxurious moment found nowhere else. Free foot baths and public baths are scattered around the hot spring town, so it is easy to enjoy a bath-hopping tour. Nearby sightseeing is also rich, with local dishes such as "Tamaran-don," the scenic spot "Chirinjima Island" and the power spot "Hirakiki Shrine." It is recommended both for relaxing alone and for a lively trip with friends and family. Why not head to Ibusuki, feeling the southern breeze, to soothe the fatigue of daily life?
