ABOUT
About this spot
Ogawa Falls, in the southern part of the Osumi Peninsula in Kagoshima Prefecture, is one of the prefecture's finest scenic power spots, featured in the opening video of a Taiga historical drama. The main highlight is the vast, mystically emerald-green plunge pool. Countless streams of subterranean water flow like delicate white threads down a huge, rugged rock wall 46 meters high and 60 meters wide, a scene of otherworldly beauty. The color of the water surface changes moment by moment depending on the angle of sunlight and the time of day, showing a different face every visit. A walking path of about 1.2 km runs along the stream from the parking lot, offering a trek of about 20 minutes one way. The route, wrapped in the murmur of the river and abundant greenery, is ideal for a refreshing break from daily fatigue. The path is relatively flat and well maintained, but wearing comfortable shoes is recommended. Come and experience the artistic contrast created by nature on site.
