Along with a tour of famous Sanuki udon, you can enjoy a trip that soothes you with peaceful time.

ABOUT

About Kagawa

Kagawa Prefecture is a land where beautiful scenery facing the Seto Inland Sea, deep history and a rich food culture live on. True to its nickname "udon prefecture," hundreds of udon shops are scattered across the prefecture, and many visitors come from all over Japan for firm-textured Sanuki udon. There are many historic highlights too. Kotohira-gu, affectionately known as "Konpira-san," offers an exceptional view of the Sanuki Plain from the top of its long stone steps. Ritsurin Garden in Takamatsu is a daimyo garden designated a Special Place of Scenic Beauty by the nation, and its varied beauty, said to offer "a new view with every step," is its appeal. In recent years, the area has also drawn attention as a mecca of contemporary art set on the islands of the Seto Inland Sea. Hopping between islands by ferry, such as Naoshima, Teshima and Shodoshima, known as a producer of olives, you can experience a unique world where nature and art blend. Enjoying the local specialty hone-tsuki-dori (bone-in chicken) and Seto Inland Sea seafood while gazing at the calm sea is another highlight. Kagawa, where tradition and modernity coexist within a compact area, is an appealing destination where every visit brings new discoveries.
